Artemio Reyes has hardly had to break a sweat in recent fights.

Friday night was no different.

Reyes stopped Abraham Alvarez in the second round at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, CA. The bout headlined a five-bout "Path to Glory" card, presented by Thompson Boxing Promotions.

Reyes entered his bout against Alvarez having won his last six bouts in a row, five by knockout since a first round knockout loss to Alan Sanchez in April of 2012.

He continued that streak as he made quick work of Alvarez, who entered the bout against Reyes having lost four in a row.

After Alvarez landed a few right hands in the opening minute of the first round, it was all Reyes. He landed repeatedly to the head of Alvarez, stunning him a number of times in the round.

The beginning of the end came for Alvarez moments into the second round. A left-right combination to the head of Alvarez dropped him to the canvas. He got up and tried to fight back, but was dropped by a counter right hand to the head by Reyes.

After getting up a second time, Alvarez went into a shell, trying to land anything to keep Reyes at bay. During an exchange, Reyes landed a right hand after Alvarez threw a jab, dropping him a third time to the canvas. Referee Ray Corona saw enough and waved the fight over at 2:01.

Reyes, from nearby Colton, goes to 22-2, 18 KOs. Alvarez, from Rosario, Sinaloa, Mexico, falls to 16-5-1, 7 KOs.

Super lightweight Giovani Santillan won an eight round unanimous decision over Joaquin Chavez. The southpaw Santillan scored a knockdown in the first round by landing a counter right hook to Chavez's head. Chavez lost his balance, with the ropes holding him up. Santillan (13-0, 7 KOs) beat Chavez to the punch throughout most of the fight, landing multiple punches to the body in the second half of the fight. There were times Chavez did mount a rally, landing an occasional punch or two on Santillan, but Santillan scored well when he went on the offensive. All three judges scored the bout in favor of Santillan, 79-72, 78-73, and 77-74.

In a brutal war between Southern California super bantamweights, super bantamweight Daniel Roman won an eight round unanimous decision over Jonathan Arrellano.

The action was mostly fought in the center of the ring, as Roman took more of the initiative during the first half of the fight. Roman landed multiple combinations to the head, with some of those punches snapping Arrellano's head back. Undaunted, Arrellano attempted to counter with hooks to the head, but Roman was quick to capitalize on Arrellano leaving himself open to be countered.

Arrellano began to take initiative in the second half of the fight, throwing to the body of Roman in an attempt to slow him down. Any momentum Arrellano had gained was lost when Roman wobbled Arrellano with a counter right hand to the head in the fifth round. Arrellano was able to recover and get through the round.

As the bout progress, both fighters stood in the pocket, landing some vicious combinations to the head and body. Roman landed the harder punches during the exchanges, at times stopping Arrellano in his tracks. The punches Roman landed began to take their toll, as Arrellano slowed down considerably, especially in the eighth round.

Midway through the round, Roman landed a well-timed right uppercut to the head, dropping Arrellano to the canvas. After Arrellano got up, the fight was close to getting stopped, but Arrellano was able to hang in there. Roman punctuated the victory seconds before the end of the round, dropping Arrellano with a counter right. Arrellano was able to get up and final bell sounded.

All three judges scored the bout in favor of Roman, 80-70, 80-70, and 79-71.

Roman, from Los Angeles, improves to 10-2-1, 4 KOs. Arrellano, from Ontario, falls to 14-4-2, 3 KOs.

In a minor upset on paper, super featherweight Cesar Valenzuela won a six round unanimous decision over previous-unbeaten Erick Ituarte. There was little action between the two during the first two rounds, although Valenzuela (8-3-1, 3 KOs) pumped a consistent jab that landed in Ituarte's face. Ituarte (7-1-1, 1 KO) picked up the aggression in the third round, but Valenzuela was able to effectively counter with right crosses or uppercuts to the head. As the bout progressed, Ituarte tried to land one big punch, exposing himself to be repeatedly countered to the head and body. All three judges scored the bout in favor of Valenzuela, 59-55, 59-55, and 58-56.

Opening the Thompson Boxing Promotions card, super lightweights Ken Alvarez (6-0-2, 3 KOs) and Joshua Marks fought to a six round majority decision draw. After an even first round, Marks (8-5-1, 8 KOs) began to unload numerous lefts and rights to the head of Alvarez. In a wild third round, Marks dropped Alvarez with a counter right hand to start the round. Moments later, Alvarez hurt and dropped Marks with a left uppercut to the head. Both fighters brought cheers from the crowd as they landed their share of punches. The ebb and flow continued in the second half of the fight as each fighter had their moments in the fight. By the end of the fight, Alvarez's face was reddened from the amount of punches Marks landed. One judge scored the bout 59-55 in favor of Marks, while the other two judges scored the bout 57-57.
