Anthony Joshua reportedly will earn a guaranteed purse of $18 million for his heavyweight title unification fight against Joseph Parker on Saturday night.

That didn’t stop the unbeaten British superstar from making the bout between rival Dillian Whyte and Lucas Browne a little more interesting. According to a betting slip Joshua posted to his Instagram page, he won £650 on a £25 wager (roughly $918 on a $35 wager) because he bet on Whyte winning their heavyweight fight by sixth-round knockout.

The Jamaican-born, London-based Whyte knocked Browne unconscious with a vicious left hook early in the sixth round Saturday night at O2 Arena in London. Whyte (23-1, 17 KOs) was about a 4-1 favorite to beat Browne (25-1, 22 KOs), who was battered and bloodied before a dominant Whyte knocked out the Australian contender.

Along with a picture of his betting slip, Joshua posted an Instagram message that read: Quick earner! I know my boxing.

Whyte’s win over the previously unbeaten Browne was the most impressive of his seven straight victories since Joshua stopped Whyte in the seventh round in December 2015 at O2 Arena. The 29-year-old Whyte, the WBC’s No. 1 contender, wants to challenge WBC champ Deontay Wilder (40-0, 39 KOs) in his next fight (https://www.boxingscene.com/dillian-whyte-wants-deontay-wilder-next-calls-june-fight--126531).

Whyte also emphasized during his post-fight interview with Sky Sports that he eventually wants another crack at Joshua.

“I would love to fight Anthony Joshua another three, four, five times in my career,” Whyte said. “You know, me and him have got chemistry. We bring a lot out of each other. Listen, all these fights are big fights, but if me and him step in the ring there’s something that just sparks between me and him. It’s like we’re two lifetime lovers.”

The 28-year-old Joshua (20-0, 20 KOs), the IBF/IBO/WBA champ, will attempt to add another heavyweight title when he encounters New Zealand’s Parker (24-0, 18 KOs), who owns the WBO title, on Saturday night at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales (Sky Sports Box Office; Showtime).
