Tomi Tatham has been forced to pull out of his next fight.

The 27-year-old, from Bentham, had been set for a spot on a Sky Sports-televised undercard.

Tatham (11-1, 5 KOs) was due to come up against Liam Conroy of Barrow in an eliminator for the British light-heavyweight title.

It was set to make up part of the supporting cast to Anthony Crolla’s world lightweight title showdown against Venezuela’s Jorge Linares on September 24 at Manchester Arena.

But Tatham has suffered a back injury, meaning that he has withdrawn from the fight.

In a statement released via social media, Tatham said: “Gutted is an understatement.

“I’ve got an injury and for the biggest fight of my life I need to be 100 per cent, I owe you [the fans] and my opponent that.

“I hope it can be rescheduled as it’s a great fight for boxing fans.

“I really can’t explain how frustrating this is but I will heal, I will be back stronger and the frustration is only fuel to the top.”

Boxing Scene understands that Conroy (10-3-1, 3 KOs) will still feature on the show over eight rounds, with efforts being made to find him a new foe.

Elsewhere on the bill, Hosea Burton will defend his British light-heavyweight title against Frank Buglioni and Isaac Lowe comes up against former world title challenger Tshifhiwa Munyai in a defence of the Commonwealth featherweight title.

Meanwhile, WBC International Silver middleweight titlist Marcus Morrison will feature back down at his more natural super-welterweight, his gym-mate Callum Johnson will see action, as will Conor Benn.

And spots have been allocated on the card for Nathan Wheatley, who is associated with former English lightweight title challenger Kieran Farrell, and Mark Jeffers, the 18-year-old who made a successful start to his paid career in May.
