BoxingScene.com has been advised that Carlos Cardenas (20-6-1, 13KOs) suffered a shoulder contusion on Monday, during a sparring session, and withdrew from his scheduled fight with feared lightweight puncher Angelo Santana (14-0, 11KOs). The fight was scheduled to headline next Friday's edition of ShoBox, from Treasure Island Casino in Las Vegas.

Manager Mike Altamura tells BoxingScene that Cardenas was advised by the Mexico City Commission doctor to rest for at least three weeks. Don King, who promotes Santana, is hunting for a late replacement.
