Angelo Leo is grateful to promoters ProBox TV for the transformation the promotion has had on his career.

The newly crowned featherweight titlist signed a promotional deal with ProBox TV after sitting out his contract with Mayweather Promotions in 2022. Leo, 30, praised his promoters for sticking to their promise of keeping him active.

“We’re still signed with ProBox, but we have a deal with Top Rank as well,” Leo said in an interview with BoxingScene. “So far, we are liking what they're doing with my career. They're doing a good job of keeping me active, like they said they were.”

Leo made his debut as a ProBox TV signee in November 2023 when he stopped Nicolas Polanco in nine rounds at Whitesands (now ProBox TV) Events Center in Plant City, Florida. The scheduled featherweight 10-rounder was a co-feature of a welterweight contest between Janelson Figueroa and Alberto Palmetta.

Prior to that featherweight debut win, Albuquerque’s Leo (25-1, 12 KOs) had lost his junior featherweight title to Stephen Fulton via unanimous defeat in January 2021. According to Leo, that defeat prompted him to move up in weight, especially after his body started struggling to make the required 122 pounds.

The decision to move up to featherweight paid off when he dethroned Luis Alberto Lopez of Mexico to win a 126-pound belt on Aug. 10. Leo hailed the roles played by ProBox and Top Rank in getting him a title shot.

“They were able to work with Top Rank and give me this opportunity,” he said. “So shout out to ProBox.”

When asked how he wants to be remembered after his career, Leo said, “I want to be remembered as a fighter that gave his all in the ring, was technical, defended a great fight and hopefully made people smile.”
