Flyweight contender Andres Campos remained unbeaten Saturday night, defeating Jesus Silvestre by unanimous decision at the Gimnasio Municipal in La Barnechea, Chile, not far from his hometown of Santiago.

Scores were 100-90, 99-91, and 96-94 for Campos, who improves to 13-0, 3 knockouts.

Saturday marked Campos’ toughest test as a pro thus far, but he fought a disciplined fight from the opening bell, even weathering through a few tough stretches throughout the bout.

The 25-year-old worked behind a hard and consistent jab that set up combinations. Campos was relentless at times, varying his offense and landing two and three-punch combinations.

Silvestre was game, even landing an occasional hook or cross during the fight, but paid for it on the inside where the quicker Campos outboxed and outlanded him. Towards the end of the fight, Silvestre suffered cuts above both eyes, although it was not clear if it was due to an accidental head-butt or a punch thrown by Campos.

It was an impressive performance by Campos, who is now ranked in the top 10 by two sanctioning bodies. He is managed by Tony Tolj, who also managed Andrew and Jason Moloney.

Silvestre, who resides in Tepic, Mexico, drops to 37-8, 26 KOs. The 32-year-old had won his previous six bouts, but had not fought since January 2020.

In the co-feature, junior lightweight prospect Junior Cruzat of Llanquihue, Chile dropped Argentina’s Daniel Sosa (5-7-1, 2 KOs) once in the second round en route to a unanimous decision victory.

Scores were 78-73, 78-73, and 79-72 for Cruzat, who improves to 9-0, 5 KOs. The 21-year-old Cruzat is also managed by Tolj.

The card was promoted by Nicolas Martinez.
