Edinburgh boxer Kenny Anderson has called for George Groves to be stripped of his British super middleweight title if he refuses to fight him.

Anderson has been left in limbo after Groves pulled out of Friday's Wembley rematch at short notice.

Groves blamed a back injury for his withdrawal on Monday night before revealing he would fight WBO champion Robert Steiglitz in the coming months after being made mandatory challenger to the German. The Stieglitz-Groves fight is being rumored for April 28th in Germany.

Anderson, who dominated Groves for five rounds before being stopped in the sixth round in November 2010, does not believe his rival.

"He is supposed to have an injury so he should prove it," Anderson told the Daily Record. "If he is lying and has a world title fight lined up then the Board of Control should take the title off him.

"I know he is talking rubbish and made this story up. He is scared to fight me and I will be watching what the authorities do - but they need to take action if he doesn't fight me. This has made a mockery of the sport and something sinister is going on in the background."
