It's the opinion of Amir Khan (31-3, 19KOs) - who faces WBC middleweight titlist Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (46-1-1, 32KOs) on May 7th in Las Vegas - that the reason why Floyd Mayweather never signed on the dotted line to face him is that his style would have troubled him.

Khan chased after Mayweather (49-0, 26KOs) for several years. The fight appeared to be close for the last two years, but he was consistently passed over.

"If you look at my style - and styles make fights - I'm not going to stand there in front of Floyd and I'm not going to just let him pick me off. I have fast feet, fast hands, I have explosiveness," he said this past Wednesday as he wrapped up the press tour for his upcoming fight by appearing on 'the 3 Knockdown Rule' podcast with Mario Lopez.

Khan was under the impression that he would land the Mayweather fight at some point in 2014 only to see Marcos Maidana face him twice.

Then in 2015, Mayweather finally faced Manny Pacquiao in their long-awaited showdown in May. Khan was confident that a fight with Mayweather would happen in the fall, but he was shocked when Floyd moved forward with a September bout against massive underdog Andre Berto. Mayweather retired following the Berto win. Meanwhile during that stretch of time Khan defeated a trio of former champions Luis Collazo, Devon Alexander and Chris Algieri.

Whatever flaws Khan has, he does possess hand-speed and can be fleet of foot. It's because of that Khan is convinced he was never able to land the assignment versus Mayweather.

"I think with Floyd, I just don't think he wants that style. He don't want to face that style because he knew that he was going to have his hands full."
