Alfredo “El Perro” Angulo has fully recovered from an eye injury and is hoping to return by the end of the year, according to the junior middleweight contender.

“They’re working for me to come back in December.  They haven’t mentioned any names,” the 31-year-old Angulo told BoxingScene.com. “My face is normal now.”

In his last fight three months ago for an interim 154-pound belt, Angulo (22-3, 18 KOs) had floored Erislandy Lara (18-1-2, 12 KOs) in the fourth and ninth rounds, gearing up for one final push in the championship rounds.  However, Angulo suffered what was eventually determined a contusion to his left eye and was rendered unable to continue in the 10th frame.

“He put the finger in my eye two times,” Angulo said of Lara.  “I didn’t say anything about it the first time, but I had to turn around after he did it the second time,” said Angulo, who did not take issue with the referee’s decision to stop the fight.  “I didn’t complain to the judges.  When you turn around, the fight is over.

Angulo, from Mexicali, Mex., would welcome a return bout with the Cuban southpaw.  Both men are promoted by Golden Boy.

“I have no problem with a rematch,” said Angulo, who will return to Northern California to train with Virgil Hunter once an opponent is announced.  “The thing about me is that I’m ready to fight anyone, anytime, as long as the fans are happy.”
