Alfred Lamptey is fighting beyond his 20 years of age.

The junior lightweight prospect notched another win Sunday night, dropping Nathanael Kakololo twice en route to a one-sided decision win at the Idrowhyt Event Centre in his hometown of Accra, Ghana.

Scores were 99-88, 99-90, and 99-91 for Lamptey, who improved to 12-0, 8 knockouts.

Lamptey boxed effectively from the opening bell, working behind a consistent jab and throwing and landing two and three-punch combinations. As the fight progressed, Lamptey increased his aggression and punch output, putting Kakololo on the defensive.

As the bout progressed, Kakololo’s punch output dropped, likely from exhaustion. Lamptey dropped Kakololo once in round and again in round 10, but was not able to finish him off.

Manager/ trainer Colin Nathan, who began working with Lamptey in recent months, was impressed with Lamptey’s performance. Lamptey recently migrated to Nathan’s hometown of Johannesburg, South Africa to work with Nathan.

“Alfred had a solid outing this past Sunday,” Nathan told BoxingScene Wednesday. “He has a lot of poise for someone his age and his ring generalship is excellent. There is still lots to work on but this kid has a bright future ahead of him. I’m really excited to see what he can do and accomplish in the next couple of years.

Nathan has a solid stable of fighters, including IBF world junior flyweight titleholder Sivenathi Nothshinga and Hekkie Budler, who is a former world titleholder at 105 and 108 pounds. Budler will face late-sub Wichet Sengprakhon of Thailand this Saturday in a tune-up fight leading to his showdown against unified world titleholder Kenshiro Teraji.

Lamptey could return to action in the next couple of months.

Kakololo, who resides in Windhoek, Namibia, falls to 14-6-2, 6 KOs. The 34-year-old is now winless in his last four bouts.

The Lamptey-Kalololo fight was part of a card promoted by Sammy Anim Addo, Ivan Bruce Cudjoe and Alex Ntiamoah Boakye.
