On July 15th at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California, the main event was scheduled to be a welterweight bout between Pablo Cesar Cano and Alfonso Gomez. But Gomez injured an elbow recently during a sparring session, leaving Golden Boy Promotions scrambling.

Robert Diaz, the matchmaker for Golden Boy told BoxingScene.com on Wednesday afternoon - "This is the second opponent that's been injured for Cano. At this point to try to find an opponent with a little more than a week to go it's just really going to be finding a body - it's really not going to be finding the right fight. What Gomez was going to bring, what Keandre Gibson was going to bring.

"So we're taking Cano off and I'm working on either moving (Jayson) Velez versus (Rene) Alvarado into the main or make it a co-main, with possibly Rashidi Ellis, who is on the 30th to move into the main event and headline his first card with us. He's a ten-rounder already."

And Diaz is looking at some other options to round out this card. Golden Boy has cards at the Fantasy Springs on the 15th and 30th of this month.

The matchmaker says he is even contemplating,"bringing in (Vyascheslav) Shabranskyy to the 30th in the spot for Rashidi on a stay-busy fight till something bigger comes up. So we got a couple of puzzle pieces moving around, right now."
