On August 1st, 2009, Devon Alexander captured his first world title when he stopped Junior Witter in 8 rounds to capture the vacant WBC junior welterweight belt.  The fight took place at the Agua Caliente Casino in Southern California.

To this day that is Alexander's only professional fight on California soil. That changes on June 21st when he faces Los Angeles resident Jesus Soto Karass at the StubHub Center in the Los Angeles suburb of Carson.

"Man, I have nothing but great memories going back there. I just want to get back on a winning streak in California," said Alexander, reflecting back on his title winning performance.

The 27-year-old St. Louis native is fully aware that the majority of the fans will be cheering for his opponent. Alexander said that he plans on putting on a complete performance and hopes to convert some of Soto Karass' fans.

"I know they will be going for him but that's no problem. I can go in the lion's den and grab his fans from him. I can get the same result as the last time when I went to California and go on the same streak," Alexander told BoxingScene.com in reference to his follow up fight after beating Witter when he knocked out Juan Urango with a highlight reel one punch knockout to unify the WBC and IBF junior welterweight titles.
