Scottrade Center, Saint Louis, Missouri - Devon Alexander (23-1, 13KOs) made his welterweight debut and dominated Marcos Maidana (31-3, 28KOs) over ten rounds to win a lopsided unanimous decision. The scores were 100-90, 100-90 and 99-91.

In the first two rounds, Alexander set the tempo with his boxing ability. He was landing a good jab from the distance and throwing hard counters as Maidana came in. Maidana let his hands go in the third round. He was chasing Alexander down and throwing a lot of punches at close range. Alexander suffered a cut above his right eye. 

In the next few rounds, Alexander was working Maidana over, landing good shots to the head and hard hooks to the body. Maidana was walking into these punches and taking damage. In the final minute of the sixth, Maidana was hurt bad with a body shot, and then punished against the ropes.

In the eight, Alexander once again hurt Maidana with a shot to the body and he was landing accurate big shots to the head to get him in big trouble. Maidana was able to take the punches and made it to the bell. For the next two rounds, Alexander moved, countered and outworked Maidana with accurate punches.
