Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer has advised BoxingScene.com that Devon Alexander (24-1, 13KOs) will defend his IBF welterweight title against mandatory challenger Kell Brook (29-0, 19KOs) on either February 23rd or March 2nd.

The fight was scheduled to take place on January 19th as part of a Showtime televised tripleheader from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. Brook suffered an ankle injury in training and his promoter, Eddie Hearn, requested a postponement of 3-4 weeks.

Schaefer is currently working with Showtime to finalize the date, and discussions are ongoing to finalize the venue.

Golden Boy is going to keep the rest of the Showtime card in place for January 19th, with a planned tripleheader. As part of the tripleheader, hard-punching junior welterweight Lucas Matthysse (32-2, 30KOs) will face Hank Lundy (22-2-1, 11KOs), and dangerous welterweight Selcuk Aydin (23-1, 17KOs) will take on Mexican veteran Jesus Soto-Karass (26-8-3, 17KOs) in a crossroads fight.
