Jamal Woods (6-13-3, 6 KOs) pulled off a minor upset by stopping crowd favorite Steven Moreno (6-2, 6 KOs) in the first round at the Bayou City Events Center in Houston. Woods landed a left hook-straight right combo flush on the chin that dropped Moreno on his knees. Moreno beat the count but wobbled on spaghetti legs prompting referee Sam Garza to wave the fight over at the 1:19 mark.

The card was staged by Savarese Boxing Promotions.

Middleweight Radmir Akhmediyev of Kazakhstan made a successful pro debut by knocking out Chris Doyle (0-2) in the first round.  Akhmediyev, 24, trapped Doyle in a corner and unloaded a double-fisted barrage punctuated with a right to the body that felled Doyle for the full count.

In the main event, junior featherweight Pablo Cruz (9-0, 3 KOs) scored a six-round shutout over southpaw Raymond Chacon (5-10). Cruz, 27, foiled Chacon's awkward defensive style by deploying a sustained body attack throughout.

Body punches also paid huge dividends for heavyweight Darlington Agha (10-0-1, 7 KOs), who zeroed in on the torso to drop Eric Lindsey (3-14-1, 1 KO) three times for a second-round TKO.

Welterweight Craig Callaghan (7-0, 4 KOs) of Liverpool, England won a four-round decision over Robert Hill (3-18, 1 KO). Standing six-foot-one, Callaghan controlled the action from the outside throughout but was jolted several times when Hill managed to close the gap.

Lightweight Ivan Otero (14-2, 4 KOs) survived a second-round knockdown to eke out a six-round decision over southpaw Adam Ealoms (3-6-3, 1 KO).

Welterweight Alberto Robles (3-0, 1 KO) won a four-round decision over Willie Miller (0-9-1).
