WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson (26-1) is a just a few weeks aways from his title defense against Tommy Karpency (25-4-1). The fight takes place in Toronto, Ontario and will headline a Spike TV PBC telecast.

The Montreal, Quebec based Stevenson said that he is taking his opponent very seriously and isn't underestimating him even though Karpency is a very big underdog.

"Training camp has been very good. Perfect actually. I think his fight versus Dawson was a close fight. I will not underestimate him. He had a few losses before Chad Dawson. I know he will be prepared. I am training hard for him," said Stevenson who is excited to fight in Toronto for the first time.

"I am excited because Toronto is the king of the country of Canada and I am the king of the light heavyweight division. So two kings will be together. I am excited to fight in front of my fans in Toronto. I want to win by knockout for my fans."

Stevenson wanted to make to clear that he is willing to fight anyone. There has been a lot of talk about potentially facing WBA/IBF/WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev and Stevenson said that is a fight he covets.

"Whoever Al Haymon puts in front of me I will fight him. Whether it's any of those guys (that Haymon advises) or Kovalev, I won't have a problem," Stevenson stated.

There had been talk of Stevenson having a homecoming fight in his native Haiti before the end of the year but he finished our conversation by saying those plans are on hold for the time being.

"I want to do a fight in Haiti but the problem is right now there are some political issues so we have to wait. There is a new president and they have a few problems so it is not a good time to have a fight there now but we will look to have one in the future," Stevenson told BoxingScene.com.
