WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson (26-1, 21KOs) has announced that he plans to defend his title against Tommy Karpency (25-4-1, 14KOs) on September 11th in Toronto. The fight will be carried by Premier Boxing Champions on Spike TV.

Karpency, although ranked at #9 in the WBC's top ten, will be a massive underdog in the fight. He was knocked out by Andrzej Fonfara in seven rounds in November of 2012. Since then he's won four in a row including last year's upset split decision over former WBC champion Chad Dawson.

Besides the loss to Fonfara, Karpency was easily dominated by Nathan Cleverly and Karo Murat in other defeats. He avenged an early career loss to Rayco Saunders by winning an eight round decision in May.

Stevenson was in action in April, where he won a dominating twelve round decision over former super middleweight champion Sakio Bika, who went down twice in the fight but finished on his feet.
