Delante "Tiger" Johnson is gearing up for a significant challenge as he returns to New York for his next bout, eager to showcase his skills on a major stage – and look to take a leap up in his career.

The 26-year-old Cleveland native Johnson will square off against Puerto Rico’s Yomar Alamo (22-2-1, 13 KOs) in an eight-round showdown on Friday night. Alamo’s only defeats have come against Liam Paro and Richardson Hitchins.

Johnson (13-0, 6 KOs) boasts a robust resume, having faced a string of formidable opponents. His recent victories include a unanimous decision over Tarik Zaina in June and a split-decision win against Jimerr Espinosa last December. Reflecting on his progress, Johnson acknowledged his latest outing.

"I learned a lot from my last fight," Johnson said.

When asked about if Alamo is the toughest opponent he has fought yet, Johnson expressed confidence tempered with respect. "I believe so," he remarked. "But I'm here to continually prove myself."

A participant in the 2020 Olympic representing the United States, Johnson has steadily climbed the ranks, aiming to capture wider attention via his performances. Despite the stakes, Johnson remains unfazed by pressure.

"It's just business," he commented. "I've faced pressure my whole life, so I'm prepared for anything."

Acknowledging the historical significance of fighting under the Top Rank banner, Johnson referenced his admiration for boxing legends associated with the promotion. Johnson has spent his entire professional career with Top Rank

“Muhammad Ali was signed here, and he's one of my favorite fighters,” Johnson shared. “That alone makes this journey special."

Looking ahead to the fight, Johnson hinted at a relaxed approach, aiming to display improvements from his training camp.

"I’m looking to enjoy myself, showcase what I’ve been working on, and take a more laid-back approach," he revealed.
